Rare WWII Japanese Steel Bayonet & Scabbard, Nice Original Marine Vet Bring-back Battlefield Souvenir From the South Pacific FightingDESCRIPTION:
Scarce complete, original Japanese steel bayonet & Scabbard. Scans show it all. Blade is excellent and bright. Release button works well.
Hard wood grips are excellent. I am selling this just as I got it from the WWII Marine vet's family. He served in the South Pacific and BROUGHT IT HOME AS A COMBAT BATTLEFIELD SOUVENIR many years ago.
Has the original steel scabbard, as shown. The scabbard has some damage at the tip. At an angle, on both sides. Almost looks like it was struck by a Samauri sword.
Th
is bayonet is clearly original, was THERE, and saw combat use. Battle use, but still in very decent condition. NICE TO FIND THEM AT ALLÂ ANYMORE, ESPECIALLY ONE BROUGHT HOME BY A US MARINE AS A BATTLEFIELD FIND.
A particularly nice example of something that went through the war and conceivably was being worn and used by its owner when he met his maker.
Bayonet is standard 20" long overall, blade is 15 1/2" long.
Bayonets were a popular veteran battlefield pickup souvenir item during the island fighting in the Pacific Theatre and they are excellent collectibles today.
