WWII JAPANESE ARMY OFFICER SHIN GUNTO SWORD W/ SCABBARD-NICE BLADE

Description

Good condition original WWII Japanese army officer Shin Gunto sword. Blade measures 25 ½” from the brass habaki to the tip and has beautiful original bright finish with a few brown and gray spots. Unusual fullered design. Tang is unmarked. Wooden tsuka is held to the tang with a single wooden mekugi. Cloth tape wrap shows some wear and soiling and a few tears. White rayskin covering has a few cracks and chips. Both sides have original menuki depicting three cherry blossoms. Sword has a brass tsuba with two seppa on the blade side. The seppa on the handle side are missing. Scabbard latch is broken. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that is in very good condition. Scabbard has nice original paint and no dents.
